larsoninak LOVE your sweet pups! We have a rescued Alaskan Husky sled dog named Willow. Check her out in my photos! She's beautiful and has an amazing personality and quite the talker! All the best. P.S. How so very lucky to travel all over for your job. I've never been out of the country except for Canada since we live right next door and have been to the East Coast once.

goldiegirls @larsoninak Willow is a beautiful dog! So great to rescue. My big dog was a rescue dog and he has been wonderful. My daughter wanted a puppy or we would have definitely gone the rescue route again. Alaska is a great state! I have actually visited once very briefly and want to go back for vacation sometime.

larsoninak @goldiegirls Willow is beautiful! She had it rough her first two years. She basically had no human contact, so she was afraid of everything and trusted no one. This is very rare among mushers, as they love and care deeply for their dogs -- they are family. The Sled Dog Sanctuary took about 12 dogs from the kennel for rehabilitation and we visited her over a 3-month period before we took her home. The Saturday of the first week, she got loose and we spent the next 80 days trying to get her back.

larsoninak @goldiegirls We already adored her and nothing was going to stop us from getting her back. It's a long story, but we had an entire town who cared deeply and she became the Eagle River, Alaska, mascot! I put up a Facebook page Where's Wandering Willow for photos of her location so we'd know she was safe. My phone was on and beside me 24-7. She had about 800 followers helping us, but, in the end, my husband and I got her with two new friends. It was the most awesome day. I just started bawling.

larsoninak @goldiegirls She's still afraid of a lot of things, but she loves her mama and papa. The first time she wagged her tail was amazng. She is quite the talker now, too. She's been learning how to play and she LOVES to run around the back yard. We love her SO much.

larsoninak @goldiegirls That was the one thing people were always surprised about, that we never gave up on her. How could you?!? I had someone at work tell me I should "let it go." I was stunned. It didn't matter how long we'd known her, she was a Larson and part of our pack and we wanted her home. It took her almost a year and a half to warm up to us, with constant soothing and attention, but well worth it! Thank you. :)
