I’m looking for vintage yum ee yum glass. Do you know if peko Chan is based off of them? Or are they different characters…..

@gslollipop peko-chan is from the 50s. A candy mascot. So yeah someone was inspired by her. The ceramics (late 50s-60s)were produced in Japan but sold overseas so they didn’t really care about copyright at the time. After visiting Japan a lot, I have a hard time finding anything other than peko-chan.

@krystalord Oh that’s so interesting, thank you. My brother is always going to Japan and speaks Japanese so he was trying to find some for me. He said the ones I like we’re probably made in the time when Japan was Americas sweat shop 🥹

@gslollipop yeah. Most mid century stuff was made in questionable working conditions. No one talks about it. I asked in Japan where things like this were manufactured but never found out much info.
