A carved wooden ladle from the Baule people of the Ivory Coast. The figure of a woman and a pair of children are in the style of carvings called Waka Sran that are used by diviners to communicate with spirits to find the cause of infertility issues. The center is of a pregnant woman with 2 children holding on to her; she has a distinct hairdo and has scarring on her forehead. The name of the artist who carved it was Adamou.
The ladle is 13 1/2" long, 2 1/2" deep and 3 3/4" in width.
