African catfish pendant in brass or bronze

My research suggests the design of this unusual piece draws from the jewelry of ancient civilizations. It hangs about 1-3/4 inches and has an opening that will accommodate a thick chain or cord. No markings. In great shape - it looks like it is made to last for centuries! I am cross posting this in women's and men's markets.
