For your consideration, a rare vintage Mid-Century signed Raymor Italy Pottery single bookend by Alvino Bagni for Raymor. The bookend is glazed in a ash red- hazel brown- olive green toned that darken at the edges. Fired hollow, it was filled with sand to make it heavy and usable. It measures about 5-3/8 inches tall, 3-1/2 inches wide and 3-3/8 ibches deep. It is in pre-owned vintage condition with chip damage at the bottom, untouched and untreated, but could be easily "touched up". It is marked on the base with the Raymor label, the item number "2836" ans well as "BAG". The three letters "BAG" on the label tells us that this absolutely beautiful bookend was created by Alvino Bagni. Prior to opening his own studio in 1946 in Lastra a Signa, near Florence, the artist worked at the Bitossi factory alongside Aldo Londi and Bruno Bagnoli. By the 1970's his studio became a factory and he employed over a hundred artisans and crafts people. Some who worked at the Bagni pottery included Remo Buti, Enzo Borgini and Michelangelo Santonocito. Beginning in the mid 1950's Bagni produced works for both Raymor and Rosenthal-Netter .
