In this story we go to Liverpool during WWII. The heroine, June Lavender, takes a job as assistant to Mrs. Pherson, the Matron of Bingham Hall, a Dr. Barnado’s orphanage. There are events in her life which she wants to put behind her, and she hopes that focusing on the children in the orphanage will help her to do this.
