Antique .925 Sterling Silver Winners 1908-09 Competition Watch Fob/Medal/Pendant

Antique .925 Sterling Silver Competition Watch Fob/Medal/Pendant marked "Lowndes Challenge Cup Comp 1908-09" with deep green enamel field and red enamel/sterling crown with a central shield of a stylized engraved swan at front; WINNERS and laurel leaf border with full British Hallmarks at back. The medal's Hallmarks include: Anchor (Birmingham Assay Office) Lion Passant (.925 solid sterling silver) Lower-case letter "i", consistent with the date 1908-1909, V&S - likely referring to Vaughton & Sons, a silversmith and manufacturer associated with the Birmingham Assay Office. There are marks and wear to the silver and some enamel loss to the medal (please see photos), consistent with the age of the piece and as this was likely used as a treasured watch fob. The sturdy bale makes it ideal to wear as a unique antique pendant. This is such an interesting and beautiful piece of sports memorabilia and extremely decorative and wearable.
