Antique Book Everyman's Library "The Newcomes" by William Makepeace Thackeray Vol. II - Arts and Crafts Decorative Book Free Gift Wrapping
The Newcomes, written by William Makepeace Thackeray in 1855, is a fictional novel providing many insights into the Victorian world.
This edition was published by J.M. Dent & Sons and is undated. However, a beautifully penned inscription says:
"Constance Whitehead
Winnipeg
November 13 - 1913"
The book has a red cloth hardcover with gold lettering and Arts and Crafts style decoration on the spine, and an embossed emblem on the cover. It also has highly decorated end pages and title pages drawn by Reginald L. Knowles in the Arts and Crafts style.
Condition:
Very Good. It is quite a decorative book. The gilt lettering is still quite bright on the spine. There is some wear, marks and bumped corners to the cover and spine. The binding is good and tight and the pages are clean but slightly yellowed.
This book would make a wonderful addition to anyone's library.
