The beautiful blue and gold floral embossed spine and cover of this vintage book make it worthy of display. They contain "The Redfords: An Emigrant Story" by Mrs. George Cupples (Anna Jane Cupples). Published in London by Blackie and Son, it is undated. There is an inscription inside the front cover for the 1886-7 school session which makes this a likely first edition as it was first published in 1886 by Blackie and Son. There is a lovely illustration opposite the title page that is unattributed.
The Inscription plate reads:
School Board of Glasgow
Session 1886-7
Parkhead Public School
Junior Department 6th Class
Prize for Regular Attendance
Awarded to Archie Robb
William E. Addie Head Teacher
W. Rennedy Clerk to School Board

As you can see from the photos, it is in very good condition. There is some wear, fading and marks to the cover and spine. There are no marks that I could find inside, but for an inscription plate inside the front cover, some tanning and smudges. The binding is good and tight.
