High-quality carbon steel straight razor made in the USA. Set in jet black celluloid scales. Circa 1930s. The Clauss Cutlery Company was founded in 1877 by John and Henrie Clauss and was once the world's largest manufacturer of scissors and shears. Around that same time, they also began manufacturing straight razors, including the "New Departure Razor" model. The company moved its operations to Fremont, Ohio in the late 1880s to utilize a local supply of natural gas for their forges.
