Antique Clothing Iron

An antique black iron. It is a "sad" iron, meaning that it uses heat and its weight rather than steam to iron clothes flat. The top would be taken off to put in anything from charcoal to heated metal in order to keep the iron hot, which would normally be heated up in a fire. The handle has electrical tape wrapped around it. It is 7 1/4" across, 3 3/4" deep and 6 3/4" tall to the top of the handle.
