An antique plate that has appeal for collectors of both Americana (especially of the Revolutionary War) & vintage dishes. This plate was made in 1883 by Mercer Pottery in New Jersey to commemorate George Washington's headquarters at Hasbrouck House in Newburgh, New York which lasted until 1773. The plate is decorated in blue and with gold to show the brick and timber house (which has been preserved to this day) along with 2 furled stars and stripes flags at the bottom of the plate. It is in surprisingly good condition with no cracks or chips -even the blue hasn't faded. There is some crazing.
The Mercer Pottery company started in 1865 and closed during the 1930s, possibly a victim of the Great Depression.
The plate is 7 1/2" across and has scalloped edges.
