Antique Dainty Darling Pin

This antique pin is made of a gold tone metal and is missing the catch from its original closure. The pin is small, dainty, and shaped like a little bowtie. It says, "DARLING" across the front with small floral and line details. My understanding is that these little pins often had black enamel lettering and were given as little love tokens (late 1800s, early 1900s). This might have been a gift for a beloved child or partner. These pieces were often gold filled, but I don't see any stamps or hallmarks that confirm this. There is wear throughout, including tone change all across the back (and some front), the missing catch, the loss of black enamel on the front, and what appears to be slight corrosion on the right side in the line and floral details. I've cleaned this piece a couple times, so what you see as far as appearance is probably as good as it will get without proper restoration.
