Magnificent antique crumb collector from the Art Nouveau period. Also called "silent butler," this scoop is made of solid gilded brass with a unique embossed design with flowers and rhomboid or lattice pattern.
As far as I have ascertained, the origin of the crumb trays is European and was used by royalty and aristocracy to collect the crumbs after each meal. In the United States, these elements were not used until the Victorian era, when the dinner was structured with rituals. Today, these ancient pieces have become prized collector's items.
In very good condition for its age. With minimal signs of use, and a patina commensurate with its age that could be polished and buffed, although I prefer to leave it to the choice of its recipient.
Piece worthy of collector, as a decoration to display or to hang on the wall and for lovers of the Art Nouveau period of the early 19th century.
Please read the entire description carefully and look at the item photos before ordering (The item photos are taken in natural light and no filter has been added, although depending on your screen settings the colors may differ slightly from the original).
