This beautiful antique handbag is an excellent example of the patience and detail that went into micro beading. Based on the age, this piece was likely beaded by hand. Based on the wear, it was well loved and used often. It has a chain handle and a kiss clasp closure. The design is the same on both sides.
The beaded design features a purple flower with a pink and white flower on either side, both surrounded by green leaves on a beige background, surrounded by a border of starry blue with a gold crosshatch pattern going through it. There are also 4 green and gold diamonds on the bottom.
The first side, visible in the first picture, is the better of the two. It has beads missing around the purse edge where the fabric meets the metal, including around and below the hinges. There are some beads missing in the lower half of this side, but their loss has not left bald patches like at the top. Both sides have some tone change and inconsistency in the metal frame at the top.
The second side (pic 2) has a similar issue to the first side, but it is more severe. This side also has loose fibers right below the clasp where the purse would have been held when opened. None of those fibers have been trimmed or removed.
The interior is lined with a very soft brown suede and there is a small open top pocket stitched into one side. Despite its age, the material is in good condition and has only one small (but noticeable) ding, which is visible on the bottom right of picture #11.
