Very reminiscent of the antique French hunter or trapper bags, this would be the ´city´ version of a purely practical item. It came to me as a ticket seller bag (From the Paris Metro perhaps), and the inside has hinged wire hoops that support 2 thinner leather side pouches and effectively divides the bag into 3 sections. The thick saddle leather outside has a large pocket, made from the same material as the rest of the outside of the bag. The shoulder strap wraps underneath the body of the bag and is attached to the frame with white metal loops and leather straps. It closes and adjusts with a white metal buckle. The frame clasp is a brass steampunk-looking beauty with a top button and leather side flap to open and close the bag.
Condition: The thick outer saddle leather in decent condition with discolouring and a bit stiff from disuse. The caramel toned piping along the edges partially missing. The brass frame with signs of age including greening and denting. The top button a little stiff but opens fairly easily with help of the side flap, and closes securely. The inside pockets with repairs as shown to the top and a large hole in the bottom of one of the side pockets. The shoulder strap may have been a part replacement - the white metal on the rings and buckle do not match up with the brass frame, but the leather looks period-correct. The shoulder strap with cracks and 1 section in particular looks like it could break soon.
