This is an antique mourning brooch was in things from my grandparents. There are no markings that I can see. I did a reverse image search on google to see what it was. There are a few identical ones.
I took to Muscat Jewelers and they tested it. She said it is at least 14k. I didn’t pay to get an official appraisal. She said it was in amazing condition for its age.
Then, I went to a gold buyer for something else and asked for a 2nd opinion on this. They said it was 9k and likely plated.
Soooo….. not sure but still a cool antique piece.
Elegant gold brooch featuring a star design. Perfect for adding a touch of sophistication.

@matinee3791 there are no markings and I’m not a jeweler so I can’t assess. It was in my grandparents things and I did a reverse image search and found these. Some are 9k and some are higher purity. Maybe I should take it somewhere but an appraisal might cost more than it’s worth idk.

@rjq519 Thank you for your reply. I think you should take it to the jeweller for verification, you may have something valuable. A lot of antique jewelry doesn’t have a gold hallmarks but it is gold, it may be even higher than 9karat. Regards and all the best 🤗

@rjq519 You don’t need an appraisal, just take it to your local jeweller and ask him to check if it’s gold, it may cost you $20, if it’s higher gold, then you can think about the appraisal.
