Antique Hand Woven Homespun Wool Blanket with Centre Seam

Here is an early hand woven homespun wool blanket with centre seam from an old Ontario homestead. It is constructed from two woven panels with a hand sewn centre seam. It is cream coloured wool with a striped edge design in red and blue. The blanket is reversible as the design is in the colour of the threads. True homespuns are always either plaid, striped or solid. Overall measurement is 65” x 80”. There are 3 splits to the centre seam; one at each end and one in the middle. Each split is about 2” long. The hand stitched red and blue edge is missing some of the stitching in certain areas. There are 7 small holes and 8 small thin spots. As well there are 2 or 3 small smudge marks. This blanket shows expected signs of age and use and the charming irregularities of a hand woven textile. It displays very well. New to Poshmark?
