Antique Kerala South India 9 Taweez Amulet Silver Necklace Belt

For your consideration, a vintage/ antique? necklace/ belt from Kerala, South India. The piece features nine amulets and other beads strung on a thick “snake-chain.” A chain on one end allows adjust the belt to the desired size and is finished with "jasmine buds" which have an apotropaic meaning. The average amulet - Taweez -measures approximately 5.7 cm and has an original untreated patination. These amulets are believed to help remove evil, protect the wearer, and bring good luck. The metal is unmarked, I believe it's a low grade silver as is in the majority of Kerala belts. Length without final chain: 68 cm, extension chain 10 cm. Weight: 213 gr
