The item in the image is a vintage leather postcard featuring a Christmas design created using a technique called pyrography, or "writing with fire". These cards were particularly popular as a fad between approximately 1903 and 1907, after which they were banned by the U.S. Post Office due to issues with them jamming sorting machines and stamps not adhering properly.
The card is made from thin leather, typically deer hide.
The design, which includes an angel inside a bell with pine branches, was burned into the leather and may have had ink or paint added as well.
Era: Given the material and technique, this item most likely dates to the early 1900s, before 1908.
Design: The card features classic Christmas imagery, including an angel, a bell, candles, and pine boughs, with the greeting "Christmas Greetings" at the bottom.
