Mid-20th century sewing basket with handle constructed from woven straw or wicker, featuring a hinged lid upholstered with a tapestry depicting a pastoral scene with windmills, possibly inspired by Dutch or European landscapes. The basket is rectangular with rounded edges and small wooden feet. The front of the basket is adorned either an embroidered floral embellishment in pastel colours. The closure is a simple loop and knot mechanism.
