Antique Purple Stone Brooch

This antique brooch is made of a gold/bronze tone metal and has an old-style c clasp. The brooch is made up of symmetrical swirling lines, with a purple diamond/rhombus shaped faceted purple stone, and a 3-"leaf" shape on either side. The stone is a bit tricky. It isn't emerald, and it doesn't have any small air bubbles in it like glass. It's cold to the touch and clicks when tapped on glass. I'm wondering if it's some kind of synthetic stone. For the purposes of this listing, consider it "generic semi-transparent purple stone A". The brooch has some wear and tarnishing but is in decent condition overall.
