This book is a vintage school reader, "The Ontario Readers Fourth Book, Authorized By the Minister of Education, Price 16 Cents". It is published by the T. Eaton Co Limited in 1925 and appears to be the first printing of first edition.
It has olive green cloth covered boards with dark brown lettering on the cover and spine with the coat of arms for Ontario on the cover. The frontispiece is the Union Jack. It is a 411 page book that contains many illustrations and is built upon excerpts from authors such as: Tennyson, Dickens, R. L. Stevenson, Kipling, The Bible, Byron, Browning, Shakespeare, etc. (See photos of Table of Contents for full list.)
It is in good useable condition. There is some wear and discoloration to the covers and spine along with small tears at the bottom of the spine and bumped corners. The pages have the odd smudge, crease, wee tear, or bit of notes/underlining. There are stamps and names inside the front covers and some notes on the back end pages. The binding is intact and sound. Please see the photos.
This book would be ideal for homeschool, your own collection or as a story book for your favorite child.
