This is a rare binding for the classic Ontario Readers series. It has a red cloth binding with subtly embossed stripes and maple leaves covering the entire surface of the front and back covers and spine. This is, "The Ontario Readers Fourth Book, Authorized By the Minister of Education, Price 14 Cents". It is published by the T. Eaton Co Limited in 1925. This is a first edition thus.
The frontispiece is the Union Jack in color. It is a 411 page book that contains many black and white illustrations and is built upon excerpts from authors such as: Tennyson, Dickens, R. L. Stevenson, Kipling, Robert Burns, Sir Walter Scott, Lord Byron, etc.
It is in very good condition. There is a little wear, fading and discoloration to the covers and spine along with bumped corners (Some blue streaks from the dyed cloth have come to the surface). There is a slight slant to the spine. There is some yellowing to the title page and manufacturing smudges to the back end papers. The other pages are so clean that I doubt it was ever used. The binding is intact and sound. Please see the photos.
This book would be ideal for homeschool, your own collection or as a story book for your favorite child.
