Antique Silk Crazy Quilt

This is an interesting piece. It appears to have been started very long ago. Maybe in the 50s, using very old material, there are some silks in here that are from late 1920s. It appears someone took this over when it went unfinished, maybe a mother and daughter. There’s some 60s prints and fabrics, and I think it stopped being added to in the 70s from what we can tell. One of the edges was then closed up, and the others left open. The stitching is impeccable and was done by someone who really knew what they were doing. I’m sure a family held on to this a really long time before letting it go. This would make the most treasured full length kimono. Or a remarkable wall hanging. Or if you want to add batting or a backing, would be beautiful as a couch or end of bed blanket. This features a double baseball stitch, and feather stitching throughout.
