Putnam’s Sons Printer: The Knickerbocker Press Believed to be first edition Appears original asking price of $2 penciled-in on upper right corner of opening page Same printed asking price - $2 - opposite cover page The book has been carefully looked at; each page has been examined A few marks on cover; no jacket Cover is sturdy but coming apart inside book at spine Gold-coloured embossing on spine and front cover Pages are uncut; refer to photo #10 A bit of rough and patchy paper at bottom of pages 38 and 39 for approximately 1 inch on each page; does not impact the pages; just a bit rough Light staining the tops of pages 261 through 350; appears to be from gold-coloured wash used to decorate the top of the book; staining gets a little worse about mid-way through the above-noted pages but lightens again before all but disappearing At most, stain is approximately ¼ inch deep by an inch wide; refer to photo #9 Another very light stain mark can be found on pages 453 and 454 about 2 ¼ inches from the bottom of the outside page edge There are numerous underlinings and markings within the book compliments of a previous owner Underlinings and markings appear to be from a red pencil crayon and/or a blue pencil crayon In the 48-page Introduction alone there are 55 underlinings or markings (Description continued in "Comments" section; left side of screen . . . )
