This item is a vintage leather souvenir postcard from Seattle, Washington, dating to the early 1900s. It features a small, fold-out paper booklet with scenic views of Seattle inside, attached to a leather cover embossed with "BEST WISHES FROM SEATTLE".
Key details include:
Material: The main card is made of leather, a popular souvenir material at the time.
Design: It is designed to be opened with the text "OPEN HERE" and the small Santa Claus figure marking the opening tab.
Interior: Inside the booklet are multiple small pictures, including one of the Pioneer Square totem pole which was erected in downtown Seattle around 1899 and is a common subject of early Seattle postcards.
Era: Similar postcards showing the original totem pole are often dated to around 1903-1907.
The note under the pop up has obvious damage but it’s incredible it is still with the postcard.
