Antique Victorian Mourning Brooch

Beautiful Victorian-era mourning brooch with a tiny seed pearl in a leaf design. I thought this was jet, but it’s cold to the touch and I think a bit heavier than jet. Maybe onyx or glass. Mourning jewellery was worn during this period to commemorate the death of a loved one and I imagine the history of the original wearer. This piece is gold-filled, with an old (pre-1900s) c-clasp. We can date this piece to the earlier Victorian period as the pin extends beyond the brooch - this was typical of the early Victorian period (1850s). A beauty 🖤
