Antique Vintage Copper Oak Leaves and Acorns Mirrored Compact

This is such a special treasure! This beautiful old mirrored compact is made entirely of metal. I think the exterior is copper. The top and bottom feature a lovely oak leaf and acorn motif, bordered by a black enamel ring. Raised dot textured trim, and a working clasp. The interior has an empty compartment that once contained some lovely red powdered blush, and the opposite side houses the mirror. The interior is marked Made in USA N 1581965, which if it is a patent number, would date this mirrored compact to the late 1880s. I obtained this piece as part of a collection of Victorian and Art Deco period treasures, so that could make sense! Antique, overall fair condition. It's gorgeous, but... first off, there's loads of wear, age, tarnish. The bottom side is a bit bent out of shape, and you can see where a gap has opened between the border and the leafy section. Lots of little dents, chips in the enamel, etc. The interior has scratches and tarnish, and the mirror has a lot of markings and discolouration under the glass. It shows a reflection that is somewhat eerie and cloudy. So what's the good news? Despite being knocked about for a century, this is still a beautiful object. The clasp works great and is strong and effective. It might be used as a fun place to hide a note, some emergency cash... whatever you're into! Just under 3.5 inches diameter.
