Antique Wedgwood “Belmar” Etruria fluted compote, footed bowl, or center piece.
“The Etruria Works was a ceramics factory opened by Josiah Wedgwood in 1769 in a district of Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England, which he named Etruria. The factory ran for 180 years, as part of the wider Wedgwood business.
At least initially, the Etruria Works made the more expensive "ornamental" stonewares Wedgwood was developing.”
Beautiful ribbed exterior with wheat pattern around rim of bowl and the foot.
The pattern word ‘BELMAR’ is missing from the top of the stamp on the bottle of the base, it should be located above the top line.
Stamped: WEDGWOOD / ETRURIA ENGLAND / USA PATENT FEB 27. 1917.
Impressed marks: WEDGWOOD / 3NY / and more I can’t make out.
This is the larger version which measures 9” bowl diameter and 5 1/2” tall
Does have crazing throughout and some discolouration, as shown and consistent with age. No chips or cracks.
Priced accordingly.
