Antique Early's Settler Blanket
Made in Whitney England
100% Pure Wool
Iconic Hudson's Bay Stripes
Early's Settler started making these blankets in 1669.
The Hudson's Bay wool point blankets were first produced for the company in 1779 by a textile mill in Whitney, England which used stripes or “points” to indicate the size of the blanket. The blankets were used by European settlers and Indigenous communities as bedding or for trade.
This blanket was passed down for three generations and has been in storage for the last three decades.
This size would be considered a "double" based on the four stripes.
It measures approx
90.5" L x 74.25" W
230 cm L x 188.5 cm W
It is a rare antique. Very hard to find.
Condition:
The blanket has many stains of unknown origin.
I've shown these in the photographs.
There is a small, 3 inch section of the hem that has come undone, as shown in the photos.
There is a stitch flaw in the weave that is shown in the photos.
I cannot see any moth holes in the fabric.
Please view all photos for condition.
