Antique bentwood storage box, Unusual Dark stained Tina Svepask

An antique bentwood storage box, beautifully crafted from thin pieces of wood (likely bark), bent by applying heat and humidity, and with overlap construction, secured by split birch root chain stitching (2 bands on the body and 2 on the lid). It features a simple slide over top. The top and bottom are secured into place with little nails. The top with an unusual slight cone shape. Likely Scandinavian in origin (Sweden). Dates ca mid to late 1800s Condition: The box has been stained or painted a very dark brown (near black) both inside and outside and it is showing appropriate wear to edges and sides. The bottom and top showing some gaping due to shrinkage. It will not be airtight, will not hold liquid, or fine materials or small items. Size: (large enough for standard size business cards) 4-3/8 inches diameter, 4-1/4 inches tall
