Antique coquilla nut spool holder with religious Stanhope, Victorian egg rosary

...holder, carved nut sewing ribbon storage, trinket holder An antique hand carved coquilla nut, dating to the late Victorian - early 20th century. The coquilla nut is the fruit of the Brazilian Palm. It stands by itself and unscrews in 2 halves from the middle. The top half has a slot, it looks almost large enough for coins - but was more likely for sewing thread, a tape measure or ribbon to come through. The inside of the slot looks a little rough, but the slot looks well-made from the outside. The top of the little box is set with a little Stanhope picture. My eye sight is not quite what it used to be, but it looks to me to be either Jesus or Mary. There is some text underneath the image. A very unusual little item! Size: 7 cm high, 4.2 cm wide and deep
