...Victorian focus sunglasses
A rare pair of Victorian safety glasses, the orange lenses are frosted with clear centres set in a silver toned steel frame with straight legs. They are also referred to a Civil War era sharpshooter glasses or sniper glasses, although this is a point of debate on some historical forums. The clear centre would help focus on the target while the orange coloration would block out most sunlight or glare. They are adult sized and would complement any Civil War era, Victorian or steampunk inspired re-enactment costume.
Condition: The frame with rust spots and a touch of bending (see images). The orange inset glass is in good shape with normal signs of age and use. The legs are bendy and wrap around the head. The left bends inwards a little stronger than the right, which should not be noticeable when in use.
Size: Total width 4-5/16 inches (11.3 cm)
nose bridge width: 5/8 inches (1.2 cm)
each lens measures 1-3/8 inches wide x 1-1/8 inches high (35 mm x 28 mm)
leg length 5-1/8 inches (13 cm)
