...flowers letter Georgian writing slope An antique marquetry inlaid wooden ladies writing slope, inlaid with a lighter coloured oval and surrounded by delicate flowers. The lid lifts to reveal a purple / burgundy and gold paper on the inside, an open storage space with 2 small mahogany fronted drawers. The side of the writing slope has another long hidden drawer. An elegant piece, perfect as home decor, for writing long letters or storing your weekly planning supplies or scrapbooking pieces. Estimated date ca 1850s Condition: With lots of wear and age, and several areas or extensive damage. The outside with a large crack to the lid and side - the side has been glued and somewhat sanded down. A few pieces of inlay are missing from the lid. The front lock is completely gone, as is most of the surrounding wood and veneer. The lid does not close flush. The inside discoloured and parts of the paper missing or peeling, the 2 little drawers with scuffing and scratches, and they do not shut flush. Their blue paper lining with wear. The hidden drawer on the side with chips and a glued piece, and a larger hole in the middle which can be used to pull the drawer out. This drawer has the same paper lining as the little drawers inside the case, with similar wear. With sectioning, and the central recess with an antique glass inkwell (not perfect, some chips), with a replacement cork stopper carved from a champagne cork.
