👘 This komon kimono patterned with fall plants (or “akikusa” in Japanese) is made of natural silk.
🎨 The colour of it is cream white, which is a little challenging to capture correctly via pictures. I think the first four pictures reflects the true colour fairly well. The pattern is a mid tone grey, same as the bottom inner layer (or “hakkake” in Japanese).
🧵 Crape (or “chirimen” in Japanese) refers to a traditional Japanese weaving technique where the weft thread is tighter than the warp thread during weaving process, resulting in the unique texture as you can see from the close-up pictures.
👠The style of this kimono is called Komon, a casual wear similar to T-shirts and can be worn to a coffee shop or lunch date. This should be worn only during Fall, as many kimonos have patterns that represents the season.
⚠️There are some yellowing to the bottom of the sleeves, as you can see from the pictures.
🪡 I think this can be worn casually.

how does one clean an item like this? thank you

@babyb69 This special type of material (crape) when washed will shrink, and so you will need to stretch it out afterwards. Because kimono does not directly contact your body when worn, usually it’s not washed after wearing. Natural silk also does not cling to dust, so usually people only need to send it to specialized store for spot cleaning when stained. Hope it helps!!
