Design: The plate back stamp features a central image of a ballerina figure and is marked "UNIVERSAL OVEN-PROOF" and "UNION MADE IN U.S.A.". Material and Glaze: These items are typically made of high-quality ceramic and are known for their fade-proof designs due to a special Permacel glazing technique, ensuring the designs would not wash away or scratch off easily. Usage: The Ballerina line included various pieces like dinner plates, luncheon plates, serving platters (also known as chop plates), cake plates, and other accessory pieces, often used for serving or display. Origin: Universal Pottery was located in Cambridge, Ohio, and produced this line from approximately 1934 to 1954. Condition Good Vintage Condition. Some scratches from use. On the bottom, there are what appears to be kiln marks. Some dark spots. The plates are a beautiful 50’s green. It was difficult to capture the colour. The first pictures capture the colour.
