The Detroit Tiger’s bat swinging cat made his official debut in 1967 as the club’s fifth alternate logo, and it would go on to live nine more years.
This frenzied feline now commands cult status among sports fans and collectors alike due to getting vaulted by the Tigers themselves.
Why it’s been retired is anyone’s guess, but smart money says Detroit’s top brass caught wind of a certain nickname being used for this logo in online forums and pulled the plug as a result. No, we won’t repeat said nickname here.
This unworn fitted’s now one of the last of its kind, as is all merchandise featuring the cat logo in question.
