Christian Heinrich Schumann had a factory in Arzberg, Germany, from 1876 to 1879. From 1881 to 1892 he was in business as Porzellanfabrik Schumann & Riess. Schumann designated his son, Carl, as the heir to the factory but when Schumann died in 1884, he was too young so his mother ran the factory. It was renamed Porzellanfabrik Carl Schumann G.m.b.H. & Co. K.G. in 1892, when Carl was 21 years old. He took over running the business in 1896. The company was incorporated in 1923 and became
