Very good preowned black leather strap necklace featuring (probably pewter, I think) bear and claw fusion carved in the Coast Salish style. Looks great with plaid shirts and tees. The Bear is a well-respected animal for the Coast Salish peoples, and in art the animal often refers to the elders who are the protectors of a community. The bear symbolizes power, courage, physical strength and leadership. It is believed that the bear taught ancestors how fish for salmon and harvest berries, and therefore are a symbol of giving strength to families. Length is adjustable. 11.5 inches at the smallest.
