Ben Houstie Heiltsuk Nation Northwest Coast indigenous cedar carved trinket / jewellery box. Good condition with some small scratches and a small round mark that looks like shiny varnish on the top. Nice cedar scent when box is opened. Signed. Ben Houstie (1960 - ) is a Heiltsuk Nation artist from Waglisla (Bella Bella), British Columbia. Ben began expressing his artistic abilities at a young age. He started painting on paper and canvas, then progressed to printmaking, carving cedar, and silver and gold jewellery-making. He is better-known for his paintings than for his wood pieces or his jewelry. Measurements: please see last three photos
