Biltrite steel toe leather parade boots. Excellent condition. There is no size indicated on the boot. I did measure them as accurately as possible and believe they are men’s size 8 and women’s size 10. I included a photo with the measurements of the sole :)

annettemorra_1 @joeydepalmer65 hi, I couldn’t make out all of the numbers, it’s very faded. I tried to do a little research and couldn’t find an accurate date. I took another photo of the inside of the boot and added to the listing for you to view, I just couldn’t make out the last couple of numbers. I hope that helps.

joeydepalmer65 The dates are marked on the soles, inside the boots, under the insoles, roughly below where the bottom of the tonge is

annettemorra_1 @joeydepalmer65 interestingly I own another pair of combat boots that I bought in the 80’s and I just went to check them and the date is right there where you said, they are dated 1980. They are a lot more beaten up than the ones I’m selling, strange that the date would have worn off or can’t be found.

joeydepalmer65 Most likely after market ones that where made for the punk crowd. Another spot, you would have noticed, is on the top of the tongs on a label like you would see on a shirt.Oh and by the way, they are parade boots/ankle boots. Combat (not the garrison boots) boots are different.

annettemorra_1 @joeydepalmer65 hmm now you’ve got me wondering about the ones I bought in the eighties. I did buy them from an army surplus store which did target the punk crowd so you’re definitely right about that. As far as the listed ones go, I tried looking again under the tongue and there is nothing. When I was researching them, I did find other combat boots with the same sole but wasn’t successful at getting a date.

annettemorra_1 @joeydepalmer65 the 80’s ones say patented 1974 on the bottom of of the sole and 1980 inside the boot.

joeydepalmer65 Pat 1974 is the sole type (several where done, every one a little different), the date stamped on the inside is manufacturing date of the boot. If 2 the 2 dates inside are different that meant the supply tech had 2 boots with out the mates but since they still matched, they handed them out. Also some times 1 boot is made in late December while the other was made in the new Year. Some times your budy who worked in clothing while you where getting kitted out, played a trick with you and gave you..

joeydepalmer65 2 separate boots of different sizes (specially when he is a navy guy and you are an army guy and you can not say a thing because he is a warrant and you are a private)

annettemorra_1 @joeydepalmer65 that’s so interesting! I would never have known that! I checked both boots from my old pair and they are both dated 1980, they’re also a ladies size 6 but I’m a size 9 and they fit me perfectly so I don’t know if the sizing method is different. I spent a good length of time determining the size of the parade boots before I listed them, it was quite a challenge but I believe they are sized accurately.

annettemorra_1 @joeydepalmer65 and you know now that I compare the two pairs, the combat boots don’t have a polished finish and the ankle is lower than on the parade boots. That was the only notable difference I could see from a fashion stand point. I really appreciate all of your insight and sharing all this information about these boots! :)
