Mid Twentieth Century Blue and White platter from Morimura Brothers. Made in Japan, the platter holds a lot of symbolism as it features the kiku flower (Chrysanthemum), a revered plant in Japan that represents longevity, fidelity, and joy. It also features the Flying Phoenix, which represents renewal, rebirth, and resurrection, often symbolizing the ability to overcome adversity and achieve new beginnings. It is a potent symbol of hope.
The platter is in very good condition, without chips, cracks, or crazing. It does have light surface scratches from utensils, that is only visible under direct light. It measures 12 1/4" x 8 1/5".
Whether you intend to use it as a lovely serving piece, or or display it in your china cabinet, it's a beautiful symbolic piece that holds a lot of meaning.
BUNDLE & SAVE! The last 5 photos are of other Blue & White ceramics/porcelain in my closet that might interest a collector.
