Booths was a prominent British pottery manufacturer founded in Tunstall, Staffordshire, in 1864 by Samuel Boote and later taken over by his sons, Thomas and John Booth. They were known for producing high-quality earthenware and bone china, often decorated with intricate patterns and gilding. The "Silicon China" mark was used by Booths to denote a particular type of durable earthenware, often associated with their later production periods.
This particular piece, with its rich cobalt blue, hand-painted exotic birds, and floral elements, is characteristic of the Aesthetic Movement or late Victorian era decorative arts, which often drew inspiration from Japanese and Chinoiserie designs. Such items were popular for display and as functional tableware, reflecting a taste for exoticism and intricate craftsmanship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
As pictured some light wear as expected with vintage goods.
