Brass Ritual Vessel with Stylized Dragon Motif and Swing Handle. Southeast Asian. Water Ewer.
Early–mid 20th century (1930s–1960s)
This item is a hand-hammered brass vessel, likely ceremonial or decorative in nature, showing stylistic influences from Southeast Asia or Southern China, particularly in the form of the high-relief dragon motif and the swinging fish-tail handle.
It resembles small ritual or temple offerings jars seen in Thailand, Burma (Myanmar), and parts of Laos, often placed on altars or used in processions.
The dragon or naga imagery is highly symbolic—linked to protection, strength, and sacred water. The base has four rounded bun feet and shows natural oxidation and wear consistent with older brass.
Solid cast and hand-chased brass
Ornate dragon-like or naga motif in repoussé and chasing
Articulated fish-tail handle with engraved scale design
Four rounded bun feet as base supports
Shows evidence of hand-finishing
Patina and slight verdigris (green-blue oxidation) on one foot indicate age.
Gorgeously heavy.
Solid brass vase / ewer.
Perfect to add historical interest to your foyer table, study or desk.
