British Museum Mummy Pencil case tin
$10 firm
“Exclusive to the British Museum, a pencil tin in the shape of an ancient Egyptian mummy.
This pencil tin is based on the mummy of an Egyptian man called Nesperennub, discovered at Luxor, Egypt in the 1890s. The mummy is on display in the British Museum.
This design is copied from the cartonnage coffin of the priest Nesperennub, and dates from the 22nd dynasty, c.800 BC. The four sons of Horus wait at the top to guard the internal organs, and below are the goddesses Isis and Nepthys with wings outstretched. On the breast, the scarab beetle of the sun god Re has been combined with the wings of Horus and holds Nesperennub in a protective embrace.
The pencil tin is an ideal gift for any budding Egyptologists.”
