CALIFORNIA ORIGINALS POTTERY Vintage Abstract MCM Square Ceramic Serving Tray

This is a lovely square vintage mid century modern serving tray with a handle from California Originals Pottery, circa 1960s. It has beautiful earth tone colored glazing with rich browns, red and gold yellow. The underside has a great textured pattern in yellow gold. Easy to lift and pass around with the gold tone MCM shaped metal handle. A wonderful example of California Originals Pottery. Backstamp:409 CAL ORIG USA Excellent vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks. There is some minor crazing and minor imperfections from manufacturing on the back (please see the last photo). Wonderful condition for its age! Please see the photos for approximate measurements. California Originals originated in 1945 as Heirlooms of Tomorrow in Manhattan Beach, CA. It is unknown when the company moved to Torrance, CA, but it was at this time when the company’s name was changed to California Originals. California Originals made an amazing assortment of edgy drip-glaze pottery, housewares, and giftware in very exciting colors. Their favorite colors to use were bright reds, yellows, oranges, greens, and browns; especially on their ash trays. California Originals closed its doors in 1982.
