CARRS MACKINAW Vintage 1930s Wool Point Blanket Coat

Traditional Canadian Point blanket coat, made of a heavy, dense, 44 oz woollen cloth (water resistant). Mackinaw jackets were first made in November 1811, so called as the cloth was produced in the Mackinac or the Mackinaw region in Michigan, an important trade route during the 1800 & 1900s. Men's Mackinaw coat, circa 1930's. Wide notched lapel. Capped shoulder seam. Single black horizontal stripe. Double front-patch envelope pockets. Back belt with button detail.
