“Wings of Reverie” – A One-of-a-Kind Art Doll by Betty Nelson Daniels
This is not merely a doll—it is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Canadian art history. Designed by Betty Nelson Daniels, the visionary behind MockingBird Creations, this mixed-media sculpture embodies theatrical elegance, spiritual symbolism, and decades of artistic mastery.
Nelson Daniels trained formally in London, Ontario, and began her career in Toronto’s film and animation industry. Her creative journey led her from crafting silk banners for North American retailers to designing figures for the National Ballet of Canada’s La Belle Époque. Her work has since graced the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, New Orleans Mardi Gras, Bermuda galleries, and Tiffany’s Boston store. A MockingBird was acquired by the Museum of American Folk Art in New York and later sold through the Mariposa Gallery to a private collector. Her pieces have been collected by luminaries such as John Candy, Karen Kain, Evelyn Hart, and Toller Cranston. Each figure is a spiritual and artistic exploration.“Wings of Reverie” is a dynamic, hand-sculpted figure adorned with authentic peacock feathers, iridescent wings, and layered textiles including lace, velvet, and metallic mesh. The pose evokes movement and ritual, while the costume suggests folklore, flight, and fantasy. The artist’s gold signature is embedded in the design, confirming its provenance.
