50 Purple pitcher plant seeds, Carnivorous Plant, Sarracenia purpurea

Approx 50 seeds, collected in Aug 2024，Newfoundland. Northern Pitcher Plant/ Purple Pitcher Plant is the provincial floral emblem for Newfoundland and Labrador. These pitcher plants grow wildly on my land in a wet land. All plants grow very tiny in that area except these pitcher plants (for example, wild blueberry plants are only about 1-2inches tall) Northern pitcher plant is a low clumping plant with rosettes of evergreen foliage. Leaves are hollow and pitcher-shaped, ranging from 10-30cm in length. The outside leaf surface are leathery, hairless, purple-tinted and often red-veins and downward-pointing stiff hairs. Leaves often turn completely wine-red in winter. Like many other carnivorous plants, Sarracenia require rainwater or distilled/deionized water, and lots of it! This is because they grow in low-nutrient waterlogged soil, and evolved to draw minerals from prey instead. As such, you must avoid tap water, bottled water and filtered water - all will result in a build-up of minerals and cause your plant’s health to deteriorate. You should avoid fertilizer for similar reasons. During the growing season, you should stand your plants’ pots in about 2cm of water (just under an inch) and avoid watering from the top.
